Falkville High School History

Falkville High School
Falkville High School

Falkville High School is  the oldest school in Morgan County. It opened in 1923 on the campus of Falkville Normal College, a private school and college which had its first graduating class in 1902. The college was eventually taken over by the town of Falkville. Falkville High School opened with first through 12th grades and held its first year of classes on the old college campus. There were only seven students in the first graduating class.

In the fall of 1924, the school moved to a new building at its current campus, where it has grown with additions that include two gymnasiums, a cafeteria, a library and an elementary building. A new building was constructed in 1936 and served students and the community until a major renovation in 2014-2015. At present, grades K-12 share the same campus; however, Falkville Elementary and Falkville High School are separate schools that share a cafeteria, a small gym and common areas of the library.

FHS Alma Mater

FHS Alma Mater
On the city's western border,
Reared against the sky,
Proudly stands our Alma Mater
As the years roll by.
Forward ever, be our watchword
Conquer and prevail!
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Falkville High, All hail!
Years may dim our recollection;
Time it's change may bring
Still Thy Name in fond affection
Evermore we'll sing.
Alma Mater, Alma Mater
Tender, fair and true,
Grateful hearts with love unfailing
All our vows renew.
